Project Overview

JL Racing is a motorcycle import and export business serving both local Sri Lankan buyers and international customers importing bikes from overseas. They needed two distinct web experiences — one tailored for domestic showroom visitors and walk-in buyers, and another built around the needs of international customers navigating import logistics. We delivered both storefronts alongside a public landing page, a NestJS backend API, and a CMS backend — all housed in a single Turborepo monorepo so the team manages one codebase across all web properties.

The Challenge

A single website couldn't serve both audiences well. Local buyers needed a catalogue-first experience with pricing, specs, and showroom contact. International buyers needed an import-focused flow covering enquiry, logistics guidance, and overseas shipping details. Running two separate codebases would have doubled maintenance overhead, so the architecture had to support both experiences from a shared foundation.

Our Solution

We built a Turborepo monorepo with shared TypeScript packages at the core. The local storefront serves domestic buyers with a full bike catalogue, spec sheets, pricing, and showroom enquiry. The foreign storefront is purpose-built for international buyers — import-focused content, overseas enquiry flows, and shipping information. A public landing page bridges both markets. A NestJS CMS backend lets the JL Racing team manage all bike listings, pricing, and media across both storefronts from one place.

Implementation Details

  • Turborepo monorepo with pnpm workspaces — shared packages layer used across all web apps
  • Public landing page showcasing brand identity and directing visitors to the right market storefront
  • Local storefront (Next.js) — full bike catalogue with specs, pricing, and showroom enquiry for domestic buyers
  • Foreign storefront (Next.js) — import-focused flows, overseas enquiry forms, and shipping information for international buyers
  • NestJS CMS backend API for managing bike listings, pricing, media, and content across both storefronts
  • Admin dashboard for internal team content management without developer involvement
  • Shared TypeScript types and utilities across all apps via the common packages layer
  • Separate deployment pipelines per app via Turborepo task orchestration

"K1 understood that our local and international customers are completely different — the dual-storefront approach was the right call. Both sites feel purpose-built for their audience, and our team manages everything through one backend."
